Spelling - (Word Family -ow & contractions) how, cow, down, don't, it's, won't, but, there, more, have
Also, this week your child is bringing home a special family assignment. Since Thursday is Earth Day we are asking 1st grade to take some of their everyday trash and recycle items from home and turn them into a magnificent piece of art or something that can be used in our everyday lives.

Week of: February 16th
The weather has been crazy the last few weeks! I am so glad we are back to normal here at school. Once Again, thank you to all of you that donated for the Valentine's party and to those parents that were able to come and help. It was a fun time! The kiddos and I had a blast making their shirts! I hope you liked them. They will be a great memory. We have already started adding more to our portfolios for Open House. It isn't far away.
This week we are learning:
Reading - Story maps and thinking maps during guided reading
Writing - Letter writing and Review
S.S. - Maps, Black History Month and Presidents
Science - Oceans and research for our Ocean study
Math - Learning all the coins and starting to count pennies and nickels

Week of Jan. 4th
Hi Everyone-
Believe it or not... I HAVE MISSED YOUR KIDDOS!!! I am so excited to see them tomorrow! We are going to be starting reading assessments this next week and they will be lasting through the end of the month. 9 week reports will be coming out towards the end of the month as well. If I feel we need a conference, I will let you know. Tutoring will resume on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:15 am. I will post our learning objectives for this week on Tuesday.
